When I look back on my teaching career of six years, I feel that I have accomplished everything that I set out to do. I now work in education administration.
I see my work as an extension of myself, and that’s why I have always incorporated my interests, values, and passions in my pursuits.
Concerning educational pursuits, I have a bachelor’s degree in Italian Language and Civilization and a master’s in Education. I also have two NYS teaching certificates; one for Italian and another for Spanish. I’ve always had an insatiable love of learning.
Concerning professional pursuits, I have had many at Newburgh Enlarged City School District. Through all of them, communication in four languages with students, colleagues, and parents was the key to our shared success. I have too many work experiences to list here, but I will provide one example. In 2021, the Director of Language Acquisition of NECSD selected a colleague and I to lead the school district's NYS Seal of Biliteracy program. My language skills helped me throughout the mission. I used Spanish to communicate with local Latino parents and inform them of the opportunity; I helped English Language Learners to develop their presentations; and I judged many multi-language presentations. I'm happy to announce that NECSD had more than 50 seniors earn the NYS Seal of Biliteracy in June 2021, which broke records for both NECSD and NYS. My organizational and communication skills are my strengths, and I leveraged them to educate and advocate for thousands of minority students.
I plan to continue to incorporate my interests, values and passions in my present career in education administration.
